Location: Edinburgh, UK, with expected weekly travel to the Glasgow office. Greater Glasgow, UK (Hybrid: Minimum two days per week working from the Glasgow office)
Job Type: Part-Time Employment (3 days per week)
Term: Initial 6-month contract, with the option to extend to a full-time position if the candidate excels
Salary Range: £17.00–£18.5/hour. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses (usually 3%–5% of the annual salary)

Job Summary

The Graduate BESS Consultant role will support our technical advisory team across engineering analysis, data‑driven modelling, and project documentation. This position is ideal for early‑career engineers with strong analytical capability and an interest in energy systems, grid integration, and storage technologies.

The role combines technical assessment, data optimisation, energy systems modelling, and client‑ready reporting — reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of modern BESS development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Engineering Support

  • Contribute to feasibility studies for BESS projects, including site assessments, system sizing, and performance modelling.
  • Conduct analytical techno-commercial modelling (e.g., LCOE, IRR, degradation, energy yield, cost estimation).
  • Support integration of BESS with existing energy systems and renewable assets.

Data, Modelling & Analysis

  • Optimise data workflows and support automation of calculations and reporting processes.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, analytical tools, and structured datasets using Excel, Python, Power BI, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Produce clear, accurate technical reports, presentations, and client-ready outputs.

Research & Market Insight

  • Summarise regulatory requirements, industry standards, and emerging best practices.
  • Track advancements in BESS technology, grid services, and market trends across the UK and Europe.
  • Support cross-border energy analysis and interconnector-related research where relevant.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with senior consultants on procurement support, due diligence, and risk reviews.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposal documentation, technical specifications, and project performance evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, with experience using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, Power BI, PowerApps, or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate findings clearly.
  • Interest in energy systems, grid integration, and storage technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

  • Competent user of AutoCAD software.
  • Previous internship or project experience in the energy sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of German or Spanish is a bonus.
